Eco-Retreats Near Colorado Springs: Where to Actually Stay

🏔️ Get the free Colorado Springs Local Cheat Sheet

A 20-year local’s shortlist, best taco, best hike, the Garden of the Gods timing trick, and more. Plus a short weekly email on what’s happening around town. Free.

Type “eco retreats Colorado Springs” into a search bar and half of what comes back is an RV park with a green logo slapped on the homepage. Below are six real, bookable places, checked against their own sites or the local tourism directories on September 26, 2026. I have not stayed overnight at any of them, so treat this as a researched shortlist, not a review, and confirm prices and dates before you book.

Some of the links below are affiliate links (Booking.com and Amazon), and I earn a small commission if you book or buy through them at no extra cost to you. I only link stays I would point a friend toward.

Here is how this list was built: I pulled each property from its own website, then cross-checked address, amenities, and current promos against the Visit Colorado Springs and Visit Manitou Springs lodging directories the week of September 26, 2026. Where a site did not back up a claim, like specific solar or water-reclamation numbers at Pikes Peak Ranch, I left it out rather than guess. I have not stayed at any of these, so nothing here is presented as a firsthand review.

Which One Actually Fits You

SunMountain Center: Wellness Retreat and B&B, Manitou Springs

SunMountain Center sits at 328 El Paso Blvd in Manitou Springs, about fifteen minutes from downtown Colorado Springs, on six acres of terraced gardens at the base of Pikes Peak. Two historic homes on the property host yoga retreats, corporate offsites, and small workshops, plus B&B-style stays for guests who just want a quiet room and a garden to walk in. There is a biodynamic micro-farm out back with goats and chickens that supplies the kitchen, and in-house chefs cook the meals instead of bringing in catering. If you would rather take a regular class than book a retreat package, see our Colorado Springs yoga studios guide.

One thing worth knowing before you go looking: the center’s old sunmountaincenter.com address no longer loads the retreat, it now redirects to an unrelated Airbnb listing. I checked this September 26, 2026. The reliable way to find current details is the Visit Manitou Springs directory listing, or a direct call to (719) 205-8516.

Pikes Peak Ranch: Private Cabins, Woodland Park

Pikes Peak Ranch is a 160-acre property at 9 CR 78 in Woodland Park, under an hour from Colorado Springs and bordering Pike National Forest. Cabins run from the one-bedroom Bear Den up to the four-bedroom Aspen House, with a handful of two-bedroom cabins in between (Angler Cove, Owl’s Perch, Elk Ridge, Eagle Crest) and a three-bedroom Wilderness Cabin. Each one has its own hot tub and fire pit, and they sit far enough apart that you will not hear the next cabin over.

Be straight about what this is: a quiet, well-run cabin ranch, not a certified eco-hotel. The site does not publish solar or water-reclamation numbers, so I am not going to invent green claims it has not made. What it does offer is real seclusion, which cuts the shared-resort energy and water draw you would get at a bigger property. As of September 26, 2026, the ranch is running 10% off fall stays with code DIRECT, and 20% off weekday November through February weddings. Cell service is thin out there, so tell someone your plans and download offline maps before you lose signal.

SCP Hotel Colorado Springs: In-Town Eco Hotel

SCP Hotel (Soul Community Planet) sits at 2850 S Circle Dr on the south side of Colorado Springs. It is the closest thing the city has to an eco-hotel you can walk into without booking a retreat package. According to the hotel’s own site at scphotel.com/colorado-springs/, checked September 26, 2026, it runs what it calls Every Stay Does Good: part of every stay goes toward tree planting and coastline restoration, and the property holds Surfrider Ocean Friendly Hotel certification, which is not a label a hotel gets for free, it requires meeting Surfrider’s water, waste, and chemical-use standards.

It is fully dog-friendly, breakfast is included, and there is a 24-hour gym, a seasonal pool, and a small market with locally sourced grab-and-go food. Pricing runs on what SCP calls Fair Trade Pricing, you settle up at checkout based on what you think the stay was worth, inside a range they set. As of September 26, 2026 they are running 20% off plus a $10 nightly food credit. No drive into the mountains required, which matters if you are short on time or do not want to rent a car. If you are traveling with a dog and want more choices, see our pet-friendly hotels in Colorado Springs guide.

Rock Rest Eco-Cabin: Off-Grid Near Colorado Springs

Rock Rest is a single cabin on two wooded acres about 45 minutes from Colorado Springs, with Pikes Peak views off the porch. A Denver architect designed and built it himself in 2018, and Rock Rest’s own site, checked September 26, 2026, says every feature was custom fabricated and hand-built rather than ordered off a shelf. That is a different kind of sustainable than solar panels, a smaller footprint by materials and craft rather than a certification program. There is a wolf rescue and a private fishing spot nearby if you want something to do besides sit on the porch.

The property does not post nightly rates online. Book directly through their site or by calling (720) 585-1709.

Check availability at Rock Rest Eco-Cabin.

Healthy Home Tatanka: Healthy-Home Rental Downtown

This one is a full rental house in Colorado Springs, walking distance to downtown, Garden of the Gods, and several trails, so you do not need a car once you are checked in. Per the property’s own listing at healthyhomecosprings.com, checked September 26, 2026, the sustainability angle here is health-focused rather than off-grid: HEPA air purifiers with real-time air quality monitoring, VOC-free paint, lead-free NSF-certified faucets, low-flow toilets, and solid wood furniture instead of pressed board. It has twelve-foot ceilings, a rooftop deck, and a full kitchen if you would rather cook than eat out every night.

Rates are not posted publicly. Book through the property’s own calendar or call (719) 499-6918.

Broadmoor Fly Fishing Camp: High-End Wilderness Week

The Broadmoor’s fly fishing camp is 75 minutes from the main resort, on a private five-mile stretch of the Tarryall River bordering Pike National Forest. According to broadmoor.com and the Visit Colorado Springs lodging directory, both checked September 26, 2026, seven restored 1920s miners’ cabins sleep up to 22 guests total, plus a main lodge and a separate fish house where the guides gather. Guides work one-on-one with pairs of guests, not groups, and nearly all the fishing is catch-and-release, aside from a stream-to-table program the staff runs themselves.

This is not a budget stay, and The Broadmoor does not publish camp rates online. Call the resort at 855-634-7711 for current pricing and season dates. If you want the wilderness version of an eco-retreat without any of the roughing-it part, this is it.

See The Broadmoor Fly Fishing Camp.

Certified Eco Hotel vs. Just a Quiet Place in the Woods

Only one of these six is a certified eco-hotel the way a rating agency would define it: SCP, with its Surfrider certification and public sustainability reporting. Healthy Home Tatanka backs its claims with specific brands and systems, Austin Air, VOC-free paint, which is easier to verify than a general eco-friendly label. Pikes Peak Ranch, Rock Rest, and the Broadmoor camp are sustainable more by what they are, small, remote, low-occupancy, built to last, than by a checklist of green tech. SunMountain Center lands in the middle: a real biodynamic farm and terraced gardens, but no certification program you can look up.

None of that makes the smaller places worse. Book a ranch cabin because you want quiet and a hot tub under the stars, not because you are chasing a green certification that is not there.

Planning the Trip

Spring and fall are the easiest seasons up here, mild days and thinner crowds. Summer gives you the most daylight for hiking and fishing. Winter turns Pikes Peak Ranch and the fly fishing camp into a different kind of quiet, snow on the cabins, fewer people on the trail.

Pack layers, temperatures swing hard once you are above 7,000 feet. Bring a reusable water bottle: Manitou Springs has eight free, naturally carbonated mineral water fountains around town, open 24/7, so you can refill for free instead of buying bottled water. Biodegradable soap and shampoo matter more at cabin properties without full plumbing hookups than at a hotel like SCP. If you are pairing a cabin stay with camping or an RV leg, or you just want backup power somewhere without reliable outlets, a compact portable power station covers phones and cameras without running a generator.

Reserve early for anything tied to a program. Wellness retreats and the fishing camp both fill around their scheduled dates rather than staying open for walk-ins.

Supporting the Land While You’re Here

Colorado Parks and Wildlife and the U.S. Forest Service manage most of the public land around these properties, and the same rule holds everywhere: pack out what you bring in, stay on marked trails, give wildlife room. If a retreat offers a volunteer day or a talk with someone who actually works the land, that is worth your time over another spa treatment. Beyond that, the most useful thing you can do is book the stay that matches what a place actually offers instead of treating a quiet cabin like a LEED building.

Bottom Line

Want a program and a farm kitchen? SunMountain Center. Want to disappear with your own hot tub? Pikes Peak Ranch or Rock Rest. Want eco-conscious without leaving town? SCP or Healthy Home Tatanka. Want guided fishing and do not mind the bill? The Broadmoor’s camp. All six are real, bookable, and checked as of September 26, 2026, but call ahead on anything time-sensitive. Prices and promo codes change faster than a webpage does.
