I live on the west side of Colorado Springs, and breakfast for me usually means one of a handful of places, not a list. I’m not going to hand you a dump of every diner in town. Here are the four places I actually go, with the details you actually need: where they sit, hours I checked this week, parking, and when to go.
West side, downtown, or north: pick your morning
These four places aren’t clustered together, so which one makes sense depends on where you’re starting and what day it is.
- West side: La Baguette (Old Colorado City) and Marigold Cafe & Bakery (Centennial Blvd) are both on my side of town.
- Downtown: Shuga’s, for a sit-down brunch, not a 6am plate of eggs.
- North: Nightingale Bread, at the Lincoln Center on N Cascade Ave. That’s nowhere near Old Colorado City, so don’t plan on hitting it the same morning as La Baguette unless you’re driving across town.
Weekend-wise: Saturday is the day that works hardest for you. Old Colorado City runs its farmers market on Saturdays through October 17, 2026, so that’s your La Baguette morning. Nightingale is open Saturday too, but closed Sunday through Tuesday. Marigold is closed Sunday and Monday entirely. Shuga’s brunch doesn’t start until 10am on Saturday and Sunday.
Weekday-wise: Nightingale runs Wednesday through Friday if you want it without the market crowd. Marigold’s breakfast bistro is open 7am to 2pm Tuesday through Saturday. Shuga’s doesn’t open until 11am on weekdays, so it’s not a before-work stop. La Baguette is the one that’s quiet any day you go.
La Baguette
La Baguette is my favorite for breakfast, or really brunch, in Old Colorado City. It’s at 2417 W Colorado Ave.
Where it sits
Right in the middle of Old Colorado City, across the street from where the farmers market sets up.
Hours
Their own site, labaguette-co.com, didn’t have posted hours anywhere I could find this week. I’m not going to hand you a this-week-verified time I don’t have. From past visits, plan on roughly 7am to 6pm Monday through Saturday and 8am to 5pm Sunday, but call ahead before you drive over.
Parking
Old Colorado City parking is easy. You’ll usually find something right behind the shops. Street parking with a meter works, or there are a couple of lots behind the shops that are paid but reasonable, not expensive.
When to go
Saturday is the move if you want to combine it with the farmers market: Old Colorado City runs the market Saturdays through October 17, 2026, 7am to 1pm, at Bancroft Park, 2408 West Colorado Avenue. Hit the market, then walk over to La Baguette. Any other day, it’s just a quiet, slow-morning option, no market crowd to plan around.
Who it’s for
Someone who wants French bread and a relaxed brunch without a line. There’s never a huge line here. It’s quiet, quaint, the opposite of a rushed diner morning.
Nightingale Bread
Nightingale Bread is at the Lincoln Center, 2727 N Cascade Ave #165. This is not in Old Colorado City. It’s on the north side, near Cascade.
Where it sits
Inside the Lincoln Center shopping center on N Cascade Ave. There’s a surface lot at the center.
Hours
As of September 2, 2026, nightingalebread.com lists their hours as Wednesday through Saturday, 8am to 2pm. Closed Sunday through Tuesday.
Wait
It’s always busy, always a line, but they process people fast. You’ll usually stand outside a minute while you order your bread or the item you’re taking away.
What to get
Bread, pastries, and a morning bun or cinnamon-bun type item that’s worth the stop by itself. They shop-mill their own heirloom organic grains, which is part of why the bread tastes the way it does and why the shop always smells like fresh-milled grain when you walk in.
When to go
Wednesday through Saturday only, 8am to 2pm. It’s closed Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, so don’t plan a Sunday morning run here the way you would for La Baguette.
Who it’s for
Someone who doesn’t mind standing in a short line for genuinely good bread and pastries to go. One of my favorites in the whole city.
Shuga’s
Shuga’s, downtown at 702 S Cascade Ave, is one of my favorite restaurants in all of Colorado Springs.
Where it sits
Downtown, on S Cascade Ave.
Hours
As of September 2, 2026, their own site lists hours as Monday through Friday 11am to midnight, Saturday and Sunday 10am to midnight. Kitchen runs until 11pm Sunday through Thursday and until midnight Friday and Saturday.
Parking
Downtown street parking is your option here.
What to get
An eclectic mix of menu items built for brunch. Great seating. This isn’t a plate-of-eggs-and-move-on kind of place.
When to go
It’s brunch, not early breakfast. Nothing opens before 10am even on weekends, and weekdays it’s 11am. Don’t show up at 6am expecting eggs and coffee.
Who it’s for
Someone who wants a proper sit-down brunch downtown with real variety on the menu, not a quick diner stop.
Marigold Cafe & Bakery
Marigold is on the west side, on Centennial Blvd. Everything they make is high quality, and it’s a favorite of mine.
Where it sits
West side, 4605 Centennial Blvd, in a shopping center with its own lot.
Hours
As of September 2, 2026, marigoldcoloradosprings.com lists the cafe and bakery as open Tuesday through Saturday. Bakery hours run 9am to 9pm, lunch 11am to 2:30pm, dinner 5pm to 9pm. Closed Sunday and Monday. If you want breakfast specifically, their bistro side runs 7am to 2pm Tuesday through Saturday, also closed Sunday and Monday. Hours shift by season, so call (719) 599-4776 or check their site before you go.
What to get
High-quality food across the board, from their bakery and dessert case to the bistro breakfast side. That’s why I send people there.
When to go
Weekday mornings or Saturday, 7am to 2pm, for the bistro breakfast. Skip Sunday and Monday entirely, they’re closed.
Who it’s for
Someone on the west side who wants a bakery-cafe with real quality, not just coffee and a pastry case. They already have their own spotlight page if you want more detail.
If you want a diner instead
These four are what I actually go to, but they’re all more brunch and bakery than classic diner. If you want an old-school diner breakfast, a burrito, or green chili, plenty of people point to King’s Chef Diner for that kind of plate. I haven’t checked their current hours, so call ahead before you drive over.
